The Regulation of our Company
As the provider for the lunch program at La Jolla Country Day School, Mount Helix Academy, Saint Charles Borromeo Academy, Mira Mesa Christian School, and the Academy of Our Lady of Peace we are committed to serving a high quality and safe product, which allows the student body to participate in a balanced meal program during their academic day. Food safety is not only a priority for our company but is required by the law according to the state of California. Our company differs from lunch programs provided to public schools and many private schools across the country and the guidelines they must follow. The difference lies with our company being a private caterer. We must retain our “A” card, which is provided by the Environmental health department. We must meet all the same guidelines and criteria that all of the restaurants throughout the state must meet. The Environmental Health Department visits our site spontaneously during the school year. These visits are not scheduled, allowing any violations to be caught immediately. It is important to state that we are not exempt from any rules that are required by other food service providers in any food establishment here in San Diego. Further information regarding the standards that must be met is available through the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health, http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/deh/food/food.html.

A Well Balanced Diet, at La Jolla Country Day School
Along with our focus on food safety we also focus on providing a well-balanced meal to the student body. Every meal is planned according to the requirements set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture. Each meal that is offered includes all of the major food groups in the correct proportions. In addition, we encourage all students to take whole fruit, visit the salad bar, and refrain from high sugar content items that are available from the bake sales and vending machines. We hope, through continued reinforcement regarding these choices, all students will make daily healthy choices and create a lasting habit of making these choices that will carry them through adulthood.
